πŸ† SAF officer captures photos & stories from frontlines of fighting Covid-19 in S'pore's dorms

Extract from Author

While many of us continue to do our best to practise safe distancing and stay at home, where we can be safe from Covid-19, there are many unseen heroes devoting their time to working on the frontlines of fighting the virus.

Author’s Reflection

What is your personal takeaway from your SOAP story?
As the writer (rather than photographer) of the story, it was a great reminder of how photography can be an important and poignant way to amplify a reality that many people may not have the chance to see.

Now that your story has been published for some time, do you have any reflections to share post-publishing?
Back when this was published, it was hard to imagine when we’d be out of the thick of things. Now that the worst of the situation appears to have passed, it’s meaningful to look back, remember, and honour the work of everyone involved in the frontline and the community to get the most heavily-impacted groups through the roughest part of the storm.

What did you hope to convey to readers through this story?
There was so much hard work and dedication going on behind the scenes of the fight against Covid-19 that many of us didn’t see everyday. Alex’s photos captured some of those moments, and helped to serve as a reminder of the important work people were doing.

How do you feel for being recognised for your work?
It was very unexpected, but all of the recognition here should go to Alex and the subjects of his photos, as they were the ones hard at work behind-the-scenes.
